A community workshop on permitting reform

The City of Annapolis invites residents, local business owners, and contractors to a collaborative community work session to help shape a faster, more efficient building permit process. The interactive forum will take place from 7 to 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center (273 Hilltop Ln, Annapolis, MD 21403).

This interactive forum marks a key milestone in the City's ongoing initiative to modernize its development review services. Attendees can meet one-on-one with the specific city staff who evaluate building, grading, and stormwater management plans. The city team is eager to listen to local experiences, gather fresh ideas, and answer pressing questions to continue efforts to build a faster, more efficient system.

"We are completely focused on making it easier, faster, and more rewarding to build and invest in Annapolis," said Christopher Jakubiak, Director of Planning and Zoning. "This work session is all about direct collaboration. By listening to residents and the business community, we can help cut red tape and create a gold-standard permitting process that serves everyone."

The Department has already reduced average permit review times by nearly half since 2023. Additionally, Annapolis is now in its second successful year of offering an expedited, next-day permitting path for minor residential projects. To sustain this momentum and implement Mayor Jared Littmann's overall vision for an engaged and responsive City government, City Departments are actively seeking insights from the community to continuously optimize the permitting process.
