Rooted in Revolution
Join us from 5:00 to 7:30 PM at Michael E. Busch Library for the fourth and final installment of “Rooted in Revolution: 250 Years of Black History in Annapolis.”
This month-long series not only serves to educate people about the long and storied history of Annapolis’s Black community, but also as a forum for people to share their experiences and learn from each other as they discuss the cultural legacy of Black Annapolitans.
The fourth session is titled "The Living Legacy: Black Annapolis Today & Tomorrow," and focuses on contemporary Black leadership, arts and culture, youth voices, and future vision. William Rowel, who serves as Bike, Pedestrian, and Micro Mobility Coordinator for the Annapolis Department of Transportation, will moderate a discussion with the following panelists:
- O. Abiola Akintola, member of the Annapolis 250 Commission and head of the Kunta Kinte Heritage Festival
- Cynthia Guillen, president of Kunta Kinte Celebrations Inc.
- Christian Smooth, filmmaker and author
We hope to see you there! If you can't make it, the event will be streamed live on the City of Annapolis Facebook page starting at 5:30.
